I’ve had a thing for frumpy loafers with stacked heels since perusing my mom’s Sweet Briar College yearbook (I linked out of fairness, but girls—if you’re thinking of attending an all-women’s uni, I have to suggest Hollins. Sorry, Mom; I’m your blood but I’m also your college rival!). I loved all the girls with flippy hairdos and mini dresses wearing huge patent leather clunkers.

Like these Opening Ceremony penny loafers:
[Opening Ceremony two-tone loafers, $115 (on sale from $165) on saks.com]
A little time on ebay (broke my ban—but I’m looking, not bidding) turned out these beauties. How amazing are these shoes! I’m dying. Must own.
[Vintage Gucci loafers, currently at $79.99!]
I’m thinking these would be awesome with baggy jeans, suspenders, and that white tuxedo shirt of my brother’s with the cigarette burns all down the front. More nods to my good English heritage…
