Text from Rob received yesterday morning:
I can’t believe how fast you went! I barely caught you and I was in an automobile! I am so proud!
[Ladylike and cycling appropriate: knee length J.Crew walking chino shorts + J.Crew pink oxford + J.Crew men’s belt + Banana leather jacket + Sir Alistair scarf + Gucci heels, the only hiccup.]
Happy, happy day! First bicycle commute to work! Cannot describe the awesomeness! It added a whole new dimension to my day, seriously: for instance, I was sitting at my desk and thought, at least 4-5 times, “Hey, remember when I was on my bike a couple hours ago? That was amazing!”
On the way home from lunch, I was parked at a light behind a BMW (obeying the rules of the road), then decided to cut around him and cross the street (not obeying the rules of the road). As I passed, he rolled down his window and said, “You are the best-dressed cyclist in all of Saratoga!”
“Thank you!” I shouted back.
[Please note Eli in background planning escape. Please ignore stack of books going to Goodwill.]
72 degrees of perfection yesterday. 77 forecast for today. The weather can just go ahead and stay this way for the rest of the summer, please and thank you. Bicycle, I love you so dearly, it’s almost unfathomable.
Happy Friday!
-Carey
OH AND: Thanks to Caroline for mentioning this to me. It’s a very crucial addendum to this post. It speaks to me, obviously.

“Jaws was never my scene and I don’t like Star Wars…”

Perfection!
PS: My most recent bicycling days involved a cig and riding clothes smelling like eau de riding lesson en route to being already late to some boring class in Pleasants!! Maybe I should dust off the yellow hornet and try again 🙂
Ha ha ha. Oh, JRD, you are the essence of effortless badass. I’m going to have to get used to biking sans ciggie (and plastic roadie cup) but am interpreting this new straightlaced riding as an opportunity to try lots of tricks, like skids and wheelies. (But maybe not with a macbook in my bag.)
I need to see this yellow hornet… immediately.
You are so super-cute!
I agree with the BMW driver! 😉
awesome!!!
Best dressed cyclist EVER. You Go! I am proud of you too. You have a lot more gumption than me that’s for sure. 😉
