Fresh off a road trip to Richmond, VA—I’m typing this under the watchful, droopy-eyed gaze of a lovely pony Great Dane. We’d packed our social schedule to the gills from Thursday through to this coming Wednesday and were both sort of rattling around in our own heads, telling complete strangers things like, “…and I hope whoever watches Eli knows to scoop his litter box… gotta watch People’s Court…” like escaped mental patients.
Are we total routine-loving homebodies? I’d sort of fancied us a little more spontaneous. Someone is reading this and laughing. [Mom?] So, when you have a list of things to do and the clock is ticking, and no one is packed, and the car has no gas, and there isn’t a diesel filling station for miles, what do we do? Brunch.
We sat outside, dog-watched, tied one on with some delicious sangria, and enjoyed a delectable, shapely mound of yellowtail tuna tartar. I’m not sure where I pulled the “shapely mound” comment from, but I have a feeling it’s something I picked up from a ratty paperback book—i.e. the kind you find under your friend’s brother’s bed at a sleepover. In any event, delicious:
And a pulled pork sandwich with a fried egg on top for you to ogle:
Rob enjoying a nice Barbera, “the best house pour Barbera I’ve ever had,” he said. Then, after a brief pause, “Actually, the only house pour Barbera I’ve ever had.”:
We almost lost our table a few times due to the gale force winds. So I trilled:
“Who’s tripping down the streets of the city?
Smilin’ at everybody she sees
Who’s reachin’ out to capture a moment?
Everyone knows it’s Windy!!!
If you spend any decent amount of time in Saratoga, you’ll no doubt see these pups, my favorite local roving landmarks:
Check out Max London’s any day of the week for great specials—I’m a fan of Wood Fired Wednesdays and Thirsty Thursdays. [Of course.]
