You’ve probably already gotten a few glimpses of her via Memorial Day, but here she is, in all of her cockatoo-ed glory. [And to check it out featured on BeautifulStranger.tv and show me your support by commenting on how completely non-muumuu-ish this is, check out their post here. Oh, and enter yourself, too!]
I owe this caftan to (and dedicate this post to) one of the most fantastic bloggers, the always witty and genius author of Holier Than Now. Her collages are insanity and totally inspirational. When people used to ask me what I wanted to do when I grew up, I’d say, “I want to be the person they hire to create those ‘What to Pack for…[insert exotic locale]’ collages for magazines.” That was it. Just that. So her collages satisfy a deep need of mine.
Ann was heading to the Mara Hoffman sample sale in NYC and generously offered to keep an eye out for caftans. [Also, read this awesome Q&A from Stylewaxpoetic about Ann here.]
After some back-and-forthing over a few, she helped me settle on this one, which we determined was a little less “parroty” than another. [I know you are thinking, “This is less parroty? Than what? Charo?” Mr. Goetting in particular, who dubbed me “The Cockatoo,” a moniker I bear with pride!] I can’t thank her enough for picking it up for me. And Mr. Goetting, for helping me snip about 5 inches off the tassles so I didn’t bite it later.
Man, I love caftans.
