At least, a mini one.
I got this Tigerlily mini caftan from ShopBop for a trip to the islands in December. Seen here, you’d think it was the most lovely, luxurious beach cover-up there was. I challenge you to think beyond.
This was inspired by a comment I got from my beloved Carrie, who said, re: blogs worth their weight in F21, “is anyone wearing anything that will inspire me to sass up my day-to-day in an affordable or even semi-affordable fashion?” Lightbulb! I mean, it’s why I read blogs. So here’s my stab at giving back.
Enough of my opining about the caftan as a misunderstood vehicle for bona-fide mysterious sensuality. Turns out, they’re more versatile than I’d realized. Here’s Part I of a 2-part post showing how one short, tie-dyed caftan can go from beach to Fall with unexpected ease.
1. With two of my go-to transition-into-Fall maneuvers, the high-necked blouse underlayer [inspired by the best Ralph Lauren show ever, with the turtleneck layer magic] and one amazing pair of Fall shoes you can wear now:
2. With my other go-to Fall transition, over the knee socks—cozy and noncommittal. Long sleeved t-shirts under dresses [seen here in a favorite post of mine] are another favorite layer; they’re tomboyish and unexpected. Imagine w/ a black knit beanie and you really get the idea.
[Worn w/ J.Crew socks + Asos suede booties + GAP t-shirt + antique turquoise earrings + Marc bag.]
Stay tuned; this caftan has more up her sleeve.
