I received two superbly incredible things for my birthday this year. And this was one of them:
So…, antlers? Little antlers!* This is why Rob is an incredible gift giver: tiny mounted antlers from Germany’s Black Forest.
They’re mounted on a little wooden heart. That means love. And look at the faint writing on the skull! And the delicately fused bones. I marvel at its jackalope-ish-ness.
I’ve never been brave/attentive/timely enough to partake in any actual interior decorating trends, but I’m sure if I mentioned ‘antlers’ some pro-in-the-know would be able to note the month and year this was still ironic and cool. But! That doesn’t so much matter to me… I’m finding my own style little by little, and somehow—call it “I hear you fart / I know your heart”?—Rob had the intuition to buy something bizarre that means something to me without my even knowing why.
I love the little guy. [Rob’s great, too.]
In honor of this, I went on a little etsy hunt for you dudes to get all horny over. Wait… what?
Call it the Vermont effect, but I dig the feel. Especially the bleached out pair top left; they almost have the same aesthetic as coral. I ordered a pair with a really great amber patina… and a vintage Texas ‘Farm Truck’ rusted-out license plate to mount them on.
Officially cutting myself off after that.
*If you take issue with animal stuff with this post, apologies, but spare me the comments. Trust me; you don’t want to get into it with me. Smiles!
