Lost pet fliers are terribly sad.

Even though I don’t need a description to verify I haven’t a lost cat or dog in my possession, I find myself dutifully reading any and all depressing pet posters anyway. This one, on the other hand, I find quite comical. Plump!

Documenting squalor with a comedic edge: New York Shitty. Considering it is my favorite blog, it makes perfect sense that this hilarious little flier with its genius masking tape job would be gracing its pages.

I had the immense (and fleeting) pleasure of meeting Christina at the Chictopia conference in February. I got to give her a real big hug (since I’d known from afar that she was quite possibly the coolest person I had never met) and then sadly, given the chaos of the event and Rob’s and my untimely departure, that was it for our encounter. When we met she said with a smile and a shrug, “I think I’m a little bit hungover,” and I swooned. My kind of girl.

I make up for that abbreviated meeting daily by getting lost in her blog. She’s just… real. This isn’t narcissistic fashion blogging, it’s a league of its own, which I think I cosmically ‘got’ the first time I visited. This should explain my enduring devotion.

I don’t know how else to put it: it’s like therapy. So many good vibes.

[Laid-back cool. All her looks are totally believable to me, which I think is what elevates her and her blog. Nothing is costumey or copycatted; it’s just her imagination at work and it’s genius.] (more…)

Every groovy lady who’s laid eyes on the YSL Ovale ring wants one. And she cannot be blamed. It is chunky, Laurel Canyon-soulful, exotic, and wildly affordable. Oh—and sold out everywhere.

The adorable Heather over at Heather in a Candy Shop nudged me over the parapet with her post about a hilarious, bungled trip to the San Fran YSL store to take the plunge. I read it and thought, “Yeah. It’s that big of a deal. I’m-a git me one.” (more…)

My birthday is coming up.

Even though it will continue to be below freezing here then, I’m still asking for a bicycle. Bikes have been a mainstay of my existence since I was born, and I got a beautiful one for my birthday the year I moved from Florida. She didn’t make it up here with me to NY and nowadays my mom refers to her as “her bike” so… rather than throw a fit over the whole debacle, I’ve decided to be diplomatic and just ask for another. (I kid.)

Hello, gorgeous! I think she comes in a celery green, too. Be still me ticker, mateys.

God, I love great blogs. Inspirational ones that make your day. Escapes from the grind. Glimpses of groovy individuals you kinda really wish you knew. Blogs that make you feel like they put their heart and soul into it and you’re all the better for having read it.

Like Refuses To Label. I may wish was was, and try to be, hope upon hope I were—but these two girls are.

Meet Amy + Alex. We stumbled upon one another serendipitously after the post I wrote about Festival Express. That’s the beauty of the blogging community—you can encourage one another and support each other’s work—and make friends.

True hippies at heart, longtime best friends—they reside in one of my favorite cities in the world, love great music, wear incredible vintage pieces, waste not and want not, and are stunningly beautiful to boot.

Get a monster dose of inspiration and live vicariously through these stylish Northern Cali girls.

What is UP, homegirl!

[Tavi modeling the spoils of her CDG gifting. All images courtesy style rookie.]

Ok, I am a Tavi fanatic. After reading blog post number, like, 742,139 around the web of “so chic and cute! perfect for day or night” I sort of want to barf and feel contaminated like that lameness is creeping into my writing. This is why when a little number materializes next to my RSS feed for T-money’s blog, style rookie, I sweep my arm across my desk and send all my papers and water bottles and s**t flying onto the floor then start reading.

Ha. Actually, I just read it. Et alors.

What did you think you were going to spend your tax refund check on? Maybe… pay off some bills? A pair of shoes? She said, “I think I’ll get a keyboard; learn to play. Or a bike.”
